The Berenstain Bears: Family Get-Together is the first segment of the thirteenth and final episode in season 2 of The Berenstain Bears. It first aired on Treehouse TV on February 15, 2003, and later on PBS on October 22, 2003. It is based on the book The Berenstain Bears' Family Get-Together.
Summary[]
The Bears are hosting a family reunion; everyone is helping them set up for the family meal. Mama is excited to have a big gathering, but the cubs doubt they'll enjoy spending time with relatives they've never met. Mama assures the cubs that they are family and not strangers. The cubs ask why Gran, Gramps, and Cousin Freddy are not coming; Mama explains that they are from Papa's side of the family, and today they are going to be with Mama's family.
At first the cubs and Papa's first impression of the family only confirms their opinion; their cousins Sylvester and Penelope are just too different to consider getting acquaintance with. Penelope likes to learn about bugs and animals, and Sylvester is a strong cub who Brother worries will break everything. Papa feels similar to Cousin Harry, who really likes to eat. Another family member they get acquainted with is Great Aunt Bess, who is, in fact, very much the head of the family, as she directs the traffic. However, as the day unfolds, Brother and Sister get to know them better and discover they've not only met new cousins, they've made new friends too. Even Papa gets along better with Harry, and Great Aunt Bess helps get the entire family by getting everyone to help clear the mess, which everyone is amazed by. Mama helped everyone remember that it takes a lot to make a family, even their family.
