Synopsis

Brother and Sister are having a bad case of the “gimmies.” Whenever they don’t get what they want, they throw a tantrum. Can Mama and Papa teach them to behave?

Plot

Mama and Papa were always nice to their cubs Brother and Sister, but sometimes they were a little too nice. The case of the gimmies developed when Brother and Sister got candy, toys, and rides on the Bucking Duck at the mall. One day, as the Bear family was nearing the checkout line at the supermarket, Brother and Sister see some candy. Mama objects to getting Gummy Gumballs for Sister and Chewy Chompers for Brother. Papa reminds her that the cubs are only young once and gets them the candy.

Just as the Bear family leaves the supermarket, Brother and Sister see the Bucking Frog ride and asks if they could ride it. Papa, who had just bought Brother and Sister treats, pays for the ride. On the way to their car, Brother and Sister see a vendor selling rubber cats. They start throwing a tantrum and causing a commotion, drawing attention from the strangers and forcing Papa to put his foot down. He reluctantly buys the rubber cats for Brother and Sister and angrily drove home.

Back at the Bear family house, Mama makes Papa some tea to restore his voice, then he calls Brother and Sister to the living room for a family meeting. Papa explains to Brother and Sister that cubs who are greedy and selfish can never truly be happy and they can't have everything they see all the time and counting their blessings, to which they agree to. During the meeting, Grizzly Gramps and Gran visit the Bear family. Brother and Sister run to the front door and, instead of greeting their grandparents, ask for what they brought them. Angered by his cubs' greedy behavior, Papa orders Brother and Sister to go to their room. He and Mama tell Gramps and Gran about the cubs' case of the "galloping greedy gimmies" just as they pull out a puzzle for Brother and a spinning top for Sister.

Brother and Sister overhear the conversation and sneak to the top of the stairs to listen in. Gramps tells Papa that he had the galloping gimmies as a cub. When he was young, Papa went with Gramps and Gran to Rufe Grizzly's General Store where it had everything he could ask for. However, Papa's case of the gimmies got so bad that Gramps and Gran couldn't go back there. Instead, Gran had Papa decide on what he wanted and didn't get anything if he had the case of the gimmies coming back on. Both Mama and Papa agree to the idea. Brother and Sister, who were sneaking back into their room, agreed to the idea as well.

At the supermarket, Brother gets a book about dinosaurs while Sister got a box of crayons. Mama and Papa were quite proud of their cubs as they walked by the candy without much of a fuss. As they were leaving, the Bear family watched as a little girl cub started having a tantrum over not getting what she wanted, with Sister echoing Papa's sentiments about the gimmies and Brother asking if they could leave.
