The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room is the first episode in the The Berenstain Bears that originally aired on September 14, 1985.
Synopsis
Brother and Sister's room is a mess, and Mama Bear's solution is to throw everything unnecessary out, but Papa Bear stops her, offering a different solution. Brother and Sister Bear learn a proper technique to clean up their rooms efficiently and quickly.
Plot
One quiet day, Mama Bear is walking around the house remarking at how clean it is, except for Brother and Sister's room. While the cubs play tiddlywinks, Mama enters their bedroom and orders them to clean it up within 15 minutes.
Brother comes up with an idea on how to make the room clean as quick as possible. When Mama enters their room a second time, the cubs' room is clean. However, as Mama opens the closet, Brother and Sister's things come tumbling out on her, giving her the idea of throwing their things away.
Papa comes to the cubs' rescue as he hears their cries for help. When everything settled down, Papa explains to the cubs how their messy room isn't fair to him or Mama and how it isn't fair to themselves. He then comes up with the idea of building boxes that the cubs could organize their things in. The messy room is clean, and Mama and the cubs suggest they should keep Papa.
